from 113 reviewsThis is my second trinket pack from Mythpunk Olfactive, and although not everything is to my own personal taste, they're all so expressive; each one has its own personality.
I chose Hushkin, Emerald Pearl Moth, Paper Moon, Changeling, and Black Witch Moth Puff, with Dusk Cherry Puff and Dozykin as my free samples. I stepped out of my comfort zone with some of these; I'm not usually a fan of anise (Black Witch Moth Puff) or coffee or cacao notes (Changeling.) Although Changeling ended up not working for me, Black Witch Moth Puff was a surprise favorite! I plan on getting a full sized bottle of it, and perhaps Dusk Cherry Puff too, this fall. Those two are autumn in a bottle! Paper Moon is another favorite, even though it doesn't really match my typical aesthetic.
This was a free sample and I was convinced to buy a full bottle after one spray!
The keyword for this fragrance is delicate. I can smell the iris and gardenia. Its a very soft and powdery perfume. Vintage lipstick is the perfect descriptor. The paper smell brings it all together for me. It's cozy. Very comforting.
i enjoyed trying out all of my samples, even the couple that didn’t quite work for me. i love that we get to choose one extra sample and they choose the other. the branding is so refreshing and i love that every scent has a place in the MO world. mythpunk olfactive is such a treat. ashe is extremely talented and i can’t wait to see what she comes out with next:-)
i love orange scents, but indie citrus tends to turn very bathroom cleaner on me. this one did not, it’s a sexy smoky orange all the way through. i didn’t get any floral on my skin, just orange and smoke. it lasted 4ish hours which is average performance for a citrus in my experience. will be full sizing when the weather gets cooler, it’s a lil too smoky for a deep south summer:-)
mossmallow earned me an unsolicited “you smell good” from my picky partner who typically only comments when i wear baccarat rouge 540. super atmospheric mossy heaven in the beginning, after a few hours it’s a slightly earthy marshmallow. this is one of my favorites from my first trinket pack:-)
*editing a week later* ok i was wrong. i don’t know if dusk cherry needed to rest longer than my other trinkets or if i just needed to come to my senses but i tried it again and it was a sexy fruity masterpiece. no cough syrup and everything melds together beautifully. it is indeed for me
original review: i am not a gourmand girl but tried this anyway and it was unfortunately a fail. the cherries gave me cough syrup in the opening and then settled into a buttery vanilla that smelled better, but still not what i want to smell like. i will be passing this one on to a friend. three stars because it is a good quality fragrance, even if not for me
patchouli and jasmine are my two favorite notes, so i was pretty certain that i would love this and i was right. i was surprised by how soft it is. ethereal is the perfect word for it and i want to wear this every day, will absolutely be full sizing and will probably repurchase for the rest of my life
this was a surprise sample and not something i ever would have chosen myself based on the notes (orris is also a death note for me), but it is so so beautiful and absolutely nails the balletcore vibe. i’m so glad i had the opportunity to try it, it’s one of my favorite samples i received:-)
I am an amateur when it comes to perfumery but I am learning more everyday! I ordered this because I was very curious about the motor oil smell. I really enjoy Snif's Dead Dinosaur, with its gasoline accord, so Babygirl seemed right up my alley.
It's a beautiful fragrance, guys. Truly I love it. The initial spray is a bit overwhelming. It's all oil and peanut butter. The peanut butter overtakes the oil smell and its creamy and strong. As sudden as it comes on it vanishes. Poof. The peanut butter smell runs away and a fresh burst of cedar and leather takes its place. This part is heavenly. The oil is still there but for me the cedar is the true heart of the bottle. It's got serious staying power too! One spray and I could still smell the ghost of cedar on my wrist the next morning.
This was a free sample that I received with my order and it ended up being one of my favorites. It's the prettiest almond floral scent and makes me feel girly in a sophisticated way. It has good throw (other people can smell it on me but not from across the room which is perfect for my taste) and easily lasts all day. I absolutely love this perfume!
I got so many freebies with this order! I think the trinket pack was 5, maybe 4, samples, but I ended up with about 16 altogether! Ashe is amazing and so so sweet, they all smelled delicious. Fluffkin and Scruffkin were my favorites, but Crossroads of Lost and Lorn was a beautiful, wearable atmospheric.
Absolutely beautiful, the lavender is the BEST lavender I have ever smelled in an any perfume, and the custard smells not like vanilla, but exactly like custard. It’s divine!
Opens with spicy, green tomato leaves, brightened with a hint of sweet citrus. A cloud of amber musk surrounds the fresh botanicals, slowly revealing balsamic woods and toasty patchouli, as a whisper of smoke winds its way through the warm resins. The musk is softened by a wave of creamy ambergris, bringing with it a hint of briney seaweed — the perfect note to bridge the gap between the fresh greenery and rich, woodsy musk, creating a smooth yet extremely complex blend.
This leans too masc for my personal style, but the ladanum-rich amber and the subtle salt of creamy ambergris make it absolutely irresistible, I can't stop smelling my wrist. This balmy, golden musk is incredibly sexy and can easily be worn year-round, it would make a wonderful signature scent.
Opens with the distinctive smell of hot motor oil, which admittedly made me more than a little nervous, but it’s quickly softened by a rich, nutty warmth with a hint of creamy sweetness. The comforting scent of well-worn, leather jackets and freshly chopped cedar fills the air, followed by toasty vetiver which helps to bring the motor oil forward again.
I'm not one of those people who likes the smell of gasoline or motor oil, but this actually smells good — it has a very nostalgic smell that reminds me of being a kid and hanging out with my dad while he worked on old cars and tractors. The motor oil is present but not at all overwhelming or headachey, and the soft, warm musk that surrounds it makes it very approachable — a great introduction to industrial scents. While this is too masc for my style, there's something really comforting about it, I'll hold onto it for the nostalgia but could see it being a really cool scent on the right person — masculine and unique but quite approachable.
Open with an airy blend of demure florals, drying to reveal plush, pale lilac and the fresh, creamy notes of gardenia. I expected to get a powdery finish from the orris, but instead it gives the blossoms a sheer, gauzy quality, floating above the buttery silk of new pointe shoes and freshly printed pages with their clean, vanillic scent. Smooth, rich wood and the deep green resin of galbanum are peppered with bittersweet, nutty almonds, bringing warmth and depth to the cool blend.
My preference is towards lush, tropical florals, so I wasn't expecting to fall in love with this, but it's absolutely gorgeous. The creamy chill of silk-infused florals and the realistic atmospheric notes make this a scent I would recommend regardless of your usual style. While Paper Moon has obvious differences when compared with Strangeling, they share the same ethereal magic and skillful blending. Paper Moon's rich, green galbanum and sheer, gauzy florals evoke images of winged forest fairies, alongside the graceful calm of ballerinas. A uniquely lovely atmospheric with a sense of calm elegance.
