*Sigh.* The notes had me apprehensive. Metallic blood with smoked, acrid marshmallows and sweet kettle corn? I am also still really picky with my patchouli preferences. But alas, this works.
It's a solved Rubik's cube of notes that look completely disjointed until your skin chemistry moves them into place. There is no denying a sharp, almost sour quality upon application, but it does not stay in that unsolved state for long. As it develops, sweetness from the cider starts to emerge and, of course, a floral note of some kind. I feel like Ashe's signature is either a prominent or evasive floral. Sometimes it is right there, and other times it is hiding underneath everything else, but I seem to keep finding it.
This is complicated yet unique, and I thrive in that space.There is something mysterious about it that keeps calling me back, almost siren like. Enough so that I bought a full size.
I didn't buy this at first because I wasn't sure about the blood note, but snapped it up later because I haven't met a Mythpunk Puff that I haven't liked. I'm so glad I did! It is all the happiest, most delectable full festival scent wrapped into one.
For me this wears as equal parts delicious spiced caramel apple cider and photorealistic mud. The caramel apple is cozy and autumnal and highly realistic itself, and then the mud is this excellent contrast that keeps the gourmand side from becoming overwhelming or cloying. I remain delighted by the mud every time I spray this.
I don't personally get blood/metal/smoke notes, and my highly smoke-sensitive partner has never clocked smoke either. I also don't get the corn of kettlecorn, just the caramel. I was very cautiously optimistic when I ordered this and I've ended up wearing it as a daily cool-weather scent.
At first I get a whiff of blood & sweet apple cider. The opening scent reminds me of sampling flavored popcorn at an old metal cart. You get a mix of fruity, caramelized, & lightly salted flavors. On fabric: the atmospheric notes are mellow but easy to pick up. I was surprised to pick up a faint mud note. The sweeter notes are in the background. On skin: reverse is true. The popcorn stand is prominent, but you also get more marshmallow here. I also got a light tinge of clove. Some smoke too but it's not overwhelming.
