The Sweetness in the Shire

Immediately, I get the warm amber and a fresh puff of marshmallow. The marshmallow note is appropriately sugared, supporting the earthy sage, oakmoss, dirt, and wood. It's the kind of earthiness that smells like damp moss and rain soaked bark, grounding the sweetness beautifully.

This is my first experience with Mythpunk Olfactive, and I'm impressed by how beautifully each note is layered. You can distinctly smell the sweeter notes as you walk, floating softly around you, but when you put your nose to your skin, the earthier ones come forward. As it dries down, the sweetness still lingers in the air, while on skin it settles into a soft, warm amber resin.

The first bottle I added to my now growing Mythpunk collection.

Mossmallow Puff

When summer lasts forever

Le sigh. Of course, I love this one too.

Ashe excels at capturing an image with a scent, layering everything so beautifully and cohesively. Blue coconut slushies, check. Cotton candy, check. Childhood poolside memories, check, check, check.

This scent is soft and flowing, relatively unobtrusive, like those memories floating gently back to the surface. My only gripe is that it fades pretty quickly on me.

Where the dead garden blooms

Beautifully wet and atmospheric, this opens with damp rose petals, rain soaked stone, dark greenery, and crushed leaves. The narcissus adds a subtle creamy, almost suede like softness that smooths out the sharper green notes.

This is an incredibly well executed atmospheric scent. It brings to mind walking through a traditional English garden during a warm afternoon shower, the crunch of pea gravel beneath your shoes, puddles gathering along the pathway, and droplets collecting on fresh green leaves. Despite the cemetery inspiration, it feels more alive than mournful. Lush, rain drenched, and quietly romantic. Sad I missed the chance to full size this one.

The Gift that keeps on Giving

I really thought I was going to hate this, but I love it! Peanut butter, motor oil, leather, and marshmallow. It is brilliant.

A concept I would never have even thought of feels like being presented with an unexpected gift. As it blooms on your skin, you get that same little burst of joy as opening a mystery box. There is the tiniest hint of something adhesive, almost like a Band Aid, which may be the leather, but it barely registers. Huffing my arm just makes me more enamored with that motor oil and peanut butter combination. I full sized this one for its sheer whimsy and creativity. Wow, this concept was really knocked out of the park.

Softly Haunting

Starts off a bit sharp, almost like acetone, but thankfully that settles down pretty quickly. The patchouli is so gentle in this scent that I actually enjoy it quite a bit. The projection reminds me a little of men's aftershave, but the powdered sugar and marshmallow seem to curb that sharper quality and keep it from taking over. I get the slightest bit of jasmine toward the end, more like a soft jasmine powder than a full floral note.
Overall, this is a surprisingly light and restrained take.

A Solved Rubik's Cube

*Sigh.* The notes had me apprehensive. Metallic blood with smoked, acrid marshmallows and sweet kettle corn? I am also still really picky with my patchouli preferences. But alas, this works.

It's a solved Rubik's cube of notes that look completely disjointed until your skin chemistry moves them into place. There is no denying a sharp, almost sour quality upon application, but it does not stay in that unsolved state for long. As it develops, sweetness from the cider starts to emerge and, of course, a floral note of some kind. I feel like Ashe's signature is either a prominent or evasive floral. Sometimes it is right there, and other times it is hiding underneath everything else, but I seem to keep finding it.

This is complicated yet unique, and I thrive in that space.There is something mysterious about it that keeps calling me back, almost siren like. Enough so that I bought a full size.

Inside Nature's Nurture

Sagebrush gives this scent the texture of sun dried hay and grass, while the pinon brings in the warmth of weathered wood. Dehydrated orange peel and blossoms weave a little sweetness through it all. Everything has that sun baked quality of vegetation preserved beneath relentless heat.

As it dries down, the landscape shifts from desert to beach. I am sitting in still warm sand at sunset, with cooler winds whirling in and raising a chill across my skin as the sun goes down, yet somehow leaving me feeling warm and comforted.

Fruit with a dark side

I love this! It's fruity, citrusy, and makes me feel the excitement and innocence of being a preteen again. I could have sworn there was patchouli in this, but nope, not in the scent list. There's something beneath all that bright fruit that's a little woody and earthy, and my nose keeps reading it as patchouli. The phantom patch, a shadow of darkness underneath, feels like those first attempts at youthful rebellion. Whatever is creating that effect gives the playful sweetness a deeper foundation and keeps it interesting. This one was an easy full size for me.

Game Changer

This is excellent. The blood orange and tuberose combo is giving me mad college-student, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed vibes — ready to burst into the adult world with all my positivity, big ideas, and a craving to make change. But that quarter sweater my grandma knitted me in high school, woven from aged patchouli and vetiver, is still draped over my shoulders like super womans cape that has unknowingly comforted me from then until now. As I move through the day, subtle whiffs of smoke, coffee grounds at the bottom of a quickly demolished cup, and the anchoring warmth of the vetiver make this an easy daily wear.

Cozy Comfort

This accidentally became my rainy day cozy scent. I mostly get the lavender, cocoa-dusted marshmallow, and vanilla bean. It’s sweet, but the lavender and underlying violet elevate it from some other lavender/ vanilla scents I’ve tried. I love it & it’s become such a comforting scent to me.

Summer treat

I can distinctly pick out lavender, mango, matcha, and oatmilk - yet the notes are so well blended together. Really unique and delicious summer treat.

The door to olfactory magic!

Faerie Door is hands down, my favorite perfume by Ashe. To me, FD is a unique floral with light gourmand/vanillic notes in the background, with something like a sugared peach or apricot note.

Altogether it brings to mind: gossamer, sugared flower petals, pastel marshmallows, sweet fruits + berries, glittering wee fae folk offering you tea. (Please forgive my purple prose, but scent is a powerful thing!) Faerie Door is an atmospheric, transportive perfume!

Warm and buttery

I noticed the florals first, a milky tuberose (no bubblegum) and a softly tropical gardenia (just the slightest touch of suntan oil). The florals soon melted into a starchy toasty pandan, chewy and sweet and perfectly balanced so as not to take away from the buttery smooth florals. Ambergris comes forward once it's been warming on my skin for awhile, and hello center stage. This ambergris is FABULOUS, all fuzzy with a hint of salt and lots of texture, nothing stinky or briny here. It's a perfect addition to the creamy white petaled-tropical-pandan opening. I don't pick out much if any coconut cream, but this has only been resting for 24 hours so I'm very much looking forward to seeing how it smells with a little age. I'm sad to be trying this as summer is coming to an end, this would have been my perfect beach day scent. There is always next year!

A sunny, warm forest

Opens with the vibrant greenery of rosemary, made bright and refreshing with the cool, crisp notes of white wormwood. The woodsy warmth of rosemary is deepened with fragrant cedarwood, followed by the scent of towering pines. Their balsamic woods and verdant needles are beautifully aromatic complex — the sticky sweetness of amber pine resin brings out refreshing notes of sweet orange and a hint of peppery spice, and a swirl of sheer, salt air. A dab of soft skin musk smooths the scent, seamlessly blending brisk, herbal top notes with the comforting base.

I expected this to be very masculine and herbal, but I actually find this more of an androgynous atmospheric — the nostalgia of an evergreen forest with just a touch of herbal magic. I rarely find forest notes to be very wearable, but the woods here are absolutely beautiful, the pine has such an amazing realism. If you've been looking for natural pine, this is the one — comforting and warm and impressively realistic.

Also, I absolutely love this on my partner, so much so that he got to keep my bottle — a snuggly, peppery warmth that's bright enough for warm weather, I love it on him!

really smells like a distressed lake!!

I wear this when I want something light that feels like me. Aquatic and smokey, light touch of wood in the background, minerally and almost dank. Love it!
