I am constantly on the search for new atmospherics and The Crossroads of Lost & Lorn is exactly what I hoped it would be. It reminds me of all the times I needed to escape my studio apartment during the pandemic — I would drive about 45 minutes towards the coast, sit next to a stream in the woods, and just breathe. Rain or shine (although mostly rain, I’m in the PNW), it was my little pocket of peace.
This smells like that: river water, dirt, petrichor, and trees.
It is exactly like walking down a path that is full of trees with a river running by during a rain drizzle. It is super realistic but also wearable, makes me feel like a water nymph in the woods. Longevity is not so long, about 2 hours, but every spritz is a wonderful experience.
this definitely smells like a forest. i get the mineral smell of stones and dirt, and it smells a little damp and humid, like the wet soil near a waterfall. it dries down to a clean, fresh petrichor scent that is also reminiscent of laundry. this is a very well done atmospheric fragrance, so it might be a little too spot on for me to wear it often (i prefer a slightly more perfumey scent), but i’m glad i got to try it! highly recommend if it’s more up your alley
The most prominent note throughout the wear I get is a jammy, slightly evergreen tree resin sort of scent that I think must be the juniper berries and conifer needles. Behind this, I can specifically sense wet stones and cool water. The effect makes it a very convincing atmospheric, it brings to mind exploring a forest full of towering, tall trees with a cold river rushing through it on an overcast day.
On my skin, the soil immediately appears, dark and wet but not dirty or particularly earthy, it has that clean smell of earth deep in the forest. The soil is quickly balanced by refreshing rain and plush, dewy moss with a touch of sweet, almost floral, top notes.
As rain pours down, the fragrance of the forest floor emerges: deep, jammy, green notes of fallen fir boughs; sticky, golden resins of pine needles; and the bright, balsamic warmth of juniper berries. The aroma of the conifers slowly merges with the bed of soft moss and fresh soil. A nearby stream begins to rise, revealing the scent of icy, mineralic water as it rushes over smooth, grey stones.
This is so amazingly realistic — it smells exactly like the mountain forests in my area, every element balanced perfectly. The chilly mountain stream makes the fragrance even more evocative and the airy mineral notes elevate the scent, a unique yet extremely realistic addition. If you're an atmospheric fan, this is a must-have!
